Orca Bay Mystery Quilt and Inklingo

I probably wouldn't be doing Bonnie's quilt if I hadn't found Inklingo. I had never done a mystery quilt and I LOVE scrappy quilts so why not. First clue had 228 QST's and I freaked. But then I found Inklingo and after getting the program and having to have Linda help me get going, there is no turning back. I HATE to do QST's and HST's as they never turn out pretty but with Inklingo they are perfect and proud to put in my quilt. Inklingo eliminates the worry about the grain and I'm hooked. The third clue with HST's no problem. Thanks Bonnie for introducing me to Inklingo and thanks Linda for making my mystery quilt easy to do. I'll be doing lots more. Going to tackle more of Bonnie's quilts and going to do a Dear Jane next year and Inklingo will be with me the whole way

Chowder

This little cutie is Chowder. Although he doesn't look like your typical cattle dog, he was a stray and he needed a home so we took him. He has the sweetest temperment and he LOVES kids. His foster had 2 and she took him everyday to the school to pick up her kids and he was a big hit We found him a great home with a young family. They have a young daughter who now has a canine companion to grow up with. I'm sure he will be a great addition to their family. Thank you Herring family for giving this nice dog a home.

Sam

This is Sam. His rescue picture did not do him justice. He is a very pretty boy. He was part of a chained up family. The female gave birth to puppies in zero temperature and only 2 of them survived. The female and puppies got homes and we got Sam. For a dog who has spent his life on a chain, he is very sweet, well mannered and is enjoying life having a yard, a house and a family. He didn't make it very far into the rescue. The foster who picked him up fell in love with him instantly and she adopted him on the spot. Thank you Kate for giving this guy a great home and I know he enjoys having canine brothers and sisters to play with and some of the comforts.

Mesa's Story

This is Mesa. As you can see, he has been on his own for quite some time. He initially went to a doggie day care but he has some serious parasite (worms) issue so they couldn't keep him any longer. No place for him to go, so he is at my house. For a very skinny dog, he is good about his food other than he is very hungry. He does not want other dogs around his food which I can't blame him.
I've been feeding him 3-4 times a day, wormed him and he is coming along.
He needs some social skills so I've started working with him on that. He will chase a ball so today we started with get the ball, bring it back, sit and you get a treat. It took him about 10 tries and he figured out the game and now it was game on. So we will be playing the game twice a day for awhile. He has also learned to sit and wait for his food. For a very hungry dog that is a big achievement. He likes people, seems to get along with dogs although I haven't added him to my group yet but I suspect within a few days he will get added.
He has huge potential. He is sweet and I think once we get him FULL and some weight on him that he will be a great dog. Check back for Mesa's journey

Had a busy couple of days in rescue. I babysat a cute little corgi for 3 days while she waited for her ride to Ohio. What a cutie and she was very well behaved. All my guys liked her. Friday I picked up Chowder whose fosters are out of town for 4 days so he is staying with me. He's a very sweet puppy and also gets along with my guys. Even pushy Dally. But Dally did push him down in the mud yesterday morning. Disaster for a white dog. He doesn't look too bad today. Now him and Dally are friends. I also have Mesa. Mesa is a project. He came down from Wyoming a couple of weeks ago.

Tori

Just picked up the cutest Corgi who is spending the next few days with me and my gang while she waits for her ride to Ohio. What a cutie. I have always liked these feisty little dogs and the one is so sweet. So canine slumber party at my house.

Blogging and Tate

Well it was suggested that we start a blog so I decided to blog about our dogs and placing them in their new homes and how life is in rescue. So here is the first posting and our first dog to be adopted that is documented in the blog.

That dog is Tate. He was a rescue to rescue transfer. He was found in Bent County in southeastern Colorado. The county he was found in is pretty sparse and his outcome if he had not been found probably would have been poor. He was lured into a garage and then caught but this process took a week.

I was contacted by the rescue down there and she said that she had a nice blue heeler that needed a home. He was scared but Donna felt he would come around. I went down and got him and another dog (Chowder) and brought them to Denver.

Next day both were neutered and brought current on their shots. Both dogs were nice, friendly dogs. Chowder went to foster care and I kept Tate for another day and then he went to foster care and we started the process of find both of them a home.

A few days ago I got a phone call from Melani about Tate. Her and her husband spend alot of time at a stable around horses, kids, other dogs and she was looking for a buddy. Tate came to mind. He is a very nice mild mannered dog and I thought he would be perfect.

I took him out today to meet his new family and he was a perfect gentleman. His foster has taught him to approach people and sit for affection and it was a big hit. He will be joining a canine buddy, Andy and his new family are excited to get him. He is such a sweet dog and he deserves a good home and I know Melani and Rob will be happy with him.
